Hope it’s not Pullis or Giggs! I can’t actually see anyone’s name out there who excites me.. who may take over!!

But whoever it is.. we need to move forward not backwards as the last few years of hard work will be for nothing!

I am not at all sure. Pulis is an obvious choice, but his style of football is completely out of whack with that of the Wales set up.

I wonder if his style of football is because virtually every club that appointed him wanted him to do a rescue job.
He's certainly never had players of Bale and Ramsey's quality - he may well have the football knowhow to adopt a different style with better players under him.

I have a feeling that Osian Roberts will have a big say in the final decision. I am sure that he wouldn't want the job himself, but where Wales are now is in the main down to him. The FWA won't want to lose him, probably more so that Coleman, so the new man will have to slot in the existing structure and buy into the longer term development of the youngsters.

This is where I see Giggs emerging as favourite.

Okay, he is a pretty abhorrent individual in the eyes of many, but if he does the job, that will soon be forgotten. If he doesn't, then he may be on his bike pretty sharpish.

Couldn't agree more and as much as Giggs would be a highly unpopular choice, he could be enough of a puppet (or muppet?) to fit into the overall plan - assuming that still stands.

Carl Robinson might be worth a shout though - any thoughts?

For the Wales job I mean, not West Brom.

Carl Robinson would be my choice, but the doubt appears to be whether he would command enough respect from the players. I wouldn't think that would be a problem, but have read the comment in a couple of places.

Bellamy spoke quite passionately about the job on Sky Sports last night. He speaks more sense than anyone in the running

From the Twittererer

More Interesting. Those who were part of the @FAWales squad with Ryan Giggs seem to have no doubt about his commitment to Wales. In my experience they tend to blame Sir Alex for his absences from friendly games.

More...Craig Bellamy and John Hartson want to be considered for @FAWales job. Huge intervention on #MNF by Bellamy, whose relationship with @Osian_Roberts could be key. Availability of Tony Pulis can’t be ignored. Now we wait... to see if Ryan Giggs is keen!?!?

Blaming SAF doesn't really work, because the Scottish, England and Irish players seemed to partake in friendlies - at least one over the course of a decade!

I can't agree, as Ferguson was incredibly protective of Giggs as a young player. He shielded him from the press for many years and refused to allow interviews. Even within the class of 92, I think he saw Giggs as an exceptional talent that needed to be nurtured and protected. That continued throughout Giggs' career to a certain extent and goes some way, to me anyway, to explaining how Giggs has turned out off the football field.

Ultimately, if Giggs has the support of the players then that's what counts. Fans are fickle enough that if the results come and he says and does the right things, opinion will change soon enough. Assuming he wants the job that is...
