Joe ledley

on Mon May 22, 2017 9:51 pm
Was just reading on the other forum that Joe Ledley may be returning I have mixed feelings on this he was a quality player in his spell at the club but when he left and the way he left I'm not sure I'd want him back just wondering what everyone thoughts on this

Water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned. I also don't blame him for wanting to advance his career - who wouldn't want more money, more opportunity and more rewards at a bigger and better employer?

My concern is over wages. If recruiting him means not spending on two or three other recruits then that might not be a great deal in the long run.

Nah... in with gaz on this. The way he left has left a sour taste in my mouth( giggidy) and I'm not sure I would want him back to be honest. I just feel the move back would be for the wrong reasons

He may have genuinely felt that Celtic were the best team in for him, but I have a sneaky feeling that they were willing to offer more money as they didn't have to pay City the compensation and that was more of a factor. Never sat well with me.

Even so, he is a quality player, but rarely does 90 minutes these days and is even slower than Whitts. What we need is direct pace from midfield.

So, overall, a "no" from me.

I think we'd be better off looking at someone younger, with potential to develop. We don't want to end up with too many players at 30+ years of age. Apart from the fact we'd have to replace them all in a year or two, the Championship season is a long one, and we need to make sure we don't fizzle out towards the end due to tired legs.

I think this season is a one-off, in that we need a squad that will do a job and get us near to promotion Older players might well be signed with a single season in mind ..... remember Heider Helgusson.

Would do a job no doubt, but not entirely sure if this moving forward or not.
