First topic message reminder :

FGR 3 City 1.

Not a brilliant start in terms of result, but it looks like Trollope was running his eye over the younger players, which is an encouraging approach.  I can't think of any other reason for that lineup.

You're showing your age talking about Barrie Jones. Unfortunately, I remember him well. Great player until a leg break.

Agreed, a very classy player. One of those not normally remembered as playing for both Swansea and Cardiff, but he also won Welsh caps whilst with both clubs.

Watched the two 60 minute games today and was impressed by the City performance in the first one. Ajayi and Tutonda looked pretty settled and assured again and, in fact, with O'Keefe, they played entire two games.

Revised 4 3 3 line up in the second game looked a little shaky and seemed to give up possession more easily. I thought Adeyemi did his chances no harm at all. Matt Kennedy looked a bit chunky to me, but played well and showed a fair turn of pace and skill.

Interestingly, the two players I picked out were also Adeyemi and Kennedy with the latter showing a lot of pace and skill.
Trollope's willingness to try something different and look at young players is encouraging.
It also looks as if Wilson is now reserve keeper with Moore off to Charlton on loan. I've heard their manager loves giving youth its chance.

Missed the coverage of tonight's game, but it seems that Peltier was excellent at CB, which is a real bonus for our defensive strength in depth.

Not sure that our strikers are really of standard, but hopefully there will be goals from everywhere else, à la Malky Mackay's promotion winning team.

Interesting to see how we actually fare against competitive opposition now. Promising pre-seasons can often be misleading but also great markers for things to come.
