Set the ball rolling by bringing in the younger players, and along with Brian Flynn restructuring the whole system. This was after the senior players at the time, Savage (the headless chicken) for one refused to play under him.

I was never a fan of John Toshack, either as a player or club manager, but he has to take immense credit for the long term vision that was seen for the national side.

Certainly put in the foundation work and credit is due to all involved along the way.

He had great vision but diplomacy wasn't in his nature!

I have mixed feelings on the whole thing. He had little choice, in truth, but to play younger players because nobody else would play under him! Has worked wonders in the long term, though.
