So the status quo it is. No matter what is said by the Club, Slade is still in charge.

Onwards and downwards next season.

So incredibly underwhelming. At least Bellamy alongside him would have got a few more fans in the ground.

Even though a full blown revolution would have been preferable, there is a certain logic to this appointment.

Facts are that Trollope is well thought of as a coach and now his hands are free.

Even though City performances improved after he arrived, you had the feeling that he was trying to do a square peg into round hole type of thing, as Slade wouldn't be moved from his rigid pre-determined 4-4-2.

Good luck to Trollope. I hope that the club gives him some money for players this summer, as if he can get City back winning and playing decent football, the bums on seats issue will take care of itself.

At the end of the day, you have to remember that this is Cardiff City, the football club with the most fickle fans in the UK.

Scott Young has been removed from the first team staff, which is encouraging.

More budget cuts confirmed - probably except Manga and Marshall to leave.

Cardiff City, the club that repeatedly offers you morsels of hope then slaps you in the face when you reach to take it.

Although it seems that Manga and probably Marshall will go, I am sure that the main thrust of the cost-cutting will be to get rid of last season's out on loan players, especially the likes of Le Fondre, who will be on decent wages.

It was encouraging to hear Trollope talking of new backroom and playing staff as well as liking full backs who go forward such as Fabio and John. This would suit a 3-5-2 which I think should have been tried months ago with the players we have. He also seemed to be obliquely distancing himself from the Slade tactics.
All we can do now is wait and see what the summer brings because if changes are seen as positive PT will buy himself time to get his ideas across - let's hope he's got more of them than Rusty.

Does anyone else find it strange that the length of contract has not been disclosed? I can't remember this before with a manager. My guess would be that this is a short term arrangement, maybe one year rolling.......??

Good point - hadn't even thought about that!

One-year rolling seems the most likely these days.

So Tan is taking the cheap way with new unproven manager. Cost cutting still first priority.
It Will probebly be harming the football next season?

Why do the club seem so happy to throw money away on poor players, but so stubbornly refuse to open the chequebook for a track proven manager? A good coach is the absolute best investment you can make in ANY squad - just ask Liverpool or Spurs.

A really good point Red, but I don't think the practicalities are so straightforward, at least so far as Cardiff City are concerned.

The biggest stumbling block, as I see it, to getting the sort of bloke you suggest would be pre-conceptions about Vincent Tan. That might actually be unfair, but this is what is focused on from the outside.

Also, we don't know who was interviewed and who might not have wanted the job, having been interviewed. We are told that Paul Trollope was the successful candidate, but the other three might not have fancied the set up and challenge.

It looks like the squad has to be trimmed further, even if it is only to get rid of the dead-wood loanees, but having to do that to free up the funds for new players might not appeal to applicants. Don't forget that we are only just out of the transfer embargo and probably will be walking a fiscal tightrope for some time yet.

I understand the logic behind the appointment and consistency and stability is good but I do feel we might have another "transition" season.

Totally agree, cannot understand the club in this matter.
